Highlights: Summit 3 amazing “Yosemite –icon” peaks over 3 nights in the backcountry. Tenaya Lake, May Lake, Mount Hoffman (10,850’), camping beside one of the Sunrise Lakes, Summit of Clouds Rest (9,926’), summit of Half Dome (8,836’), and returning to the Valley beside both Vernal and Nevada Falls on the Mist Trail. Great views into the Yosemite high country and into the Yosemite valley from high points above.

Day 1: Meet your guide in the afternoon. Get acquainted with the group and with gear. Valley highlights (food in the front-country not included.) Camp in the Yosemite Valley Backpackers camp.

Day 2: Catch morning 8am shuttle to the trailhead near Tenaya Lake. Take in the views at Tenaya Lake (8,150’) before hiking up a total of 3.3 moderate miles to May Lake. May Lake is a high alpine lake at 9,329’. The designated backpackers campsites are along the south shore of the lake. There are seasonally operating flush toilets and a fresh water tap here. A side hike of 1.5 -2 miles to the top of Mount Hoffman (10,850’) is available this afternoon. (Mount Hoffman is the geographical center of Yosemite National Park and was also John Muir’s favorite summit view.) Also at this location: swimming, relaxing, and taking in an amazing sunset on the secret bluff which looks east across the Yosemite high country.

Day 3: Hike back down and cross Tioga Road and then up to the Sunrise Lakes. Great views, great swimming, fishing, and relaxation. Approximately a 5.7 mile hike and 1,100’ elevation gain.

Day 4: Hike approximately 3.5 miles to the summit of Clouds Rest at 9,926’. Great views of all of Yosemite! Lunch on top. Hike down 5 miles to Sunrise Creek for camping.

Day 5: Wake early and hike .5 miles and drop packs before hiking 2 more miles to top of Half Dome at 8,836’. Take in the views and descend back to packs. Hike out another 5.5 miles, and down the Mist Trail which descends besides two major waterfalls to Yosemite Valley proper. Our goal would be to be finished between 2-3pm if not sooner.

Other: Going this route there are options. For example; there is a trail that goes around the summit of Clouds Rest should anyone not want to summit. Half Dome in itself can be an option too.

Required shuttle costs are included in the above costs. We also include backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, pads, and eating utensils at NO EXTRA COST as needed. Lastly, all profits from our guided trips go towards our non-profit youth summer camp program.

Note: All trips are subject to Lasting Adventures obtaining the necessary wilderness permits. Although our success rate is 98%, should we not obtain the exact trail-head, a trip of equal quality will be obtained. Should weather, fire, and/or delayed seasonal openings affect the chosen itinerary, a different itinerary will be offered. You will be kept in contact throughout this process.
