Terms & conditions.
The booking, deposit, weather, and liability terms we apply to our tours. These are also stated at the time of booking and on each tour page — contact us with any question before you reserve.
Booking and deposits
Most private day tours take a $250 deposit, with the balance collected within 30 days of the tour. Some tours differ — the Stretch Hummer takes a $500 deposit, and our air tours (helicopter and small plane) take a $750 deposit. Wine tours take a $250 deposit, held in case cleaning is needed if a passenger is sick during the trip. The exact deposit and balance terms for your tour are shown when you book.
Pickup and additional-distance charges
Our tours originate in Oakhurst or the surrounding areas. For guests coming from Fresno, Groveland, Madera, and Merced, an additional charge applies. Rates that are quoted per person are typically based on double occupancy; guests traveling alone may be charged a single supplement.
Minimum group sizes
Some tours require a minimum number of guests to operate and may be rescheduled or cancelled if that minimum isn't met — for example, the hiking tour requires a two-adult minimum, the San Francisco group tour and the Sequoia/Kings Canyon tours require five, and the Adventure Shuttle requires three. You'll be notified in advance if a minimum affects your date.
Weather, traffic, and tour duration
The total tour time we quote is approximate. The duration of a tour can vary due to weather, traffic, and how much fun we're having. Sometimes, due to scheduling, the hiking portion of a tour may be changed to go in the uphill direction.
Seasonal access
Glacier Point is accessible by smaller vehicles only from approximately late May through October or November; the Glacier Point Road and other high-country roads are closed seasonally. Access to all areas of Sequoia and Kings Canyon may not always be possible in winter because of road closures.
Hiking and the Four Mile Trail
Crossroads Tours does not provide a personal guided hike (a private all-trail guide is available on some tours for an additional fee). By accepting to hike the Four Mile Trail or any other trail, you are releasing Crossroads Tours from any liability. This hike is strenuous, and going downhill is very steep in places — you must be prepared with appropriate clothing, shoes, a walking stick or trekking poles, water, and whatever else you may require.
The hike takes about two to three hours downhill. We allow you four hours maximum to reach the Yosemite Valley Lodge. Beyond four hours we may not be able to stand by, and you may need to arrange other transportation back. If we must wait for you, the cost is $95 per hour, calculated after the four-hour mark.
Cancellations
Cancellation terms vary by tour and are shown at the time of booking. Some products — such as the Adventure Shuttle — cannot be cancelled once booked. Several hotel and tour packages offer free cancellation along with senior and child discounts. If you're unsure, contact us before you book.
What's included
Most tours include a personal guide, picnic lunch, bottled water, park entrance fees, a small gratuity, and the private air-conditioned vehicle. Exceptions are noted on each tour page — for example, park fees and gratuities are not included on the deluxe vacation-home packages, and gratuity is not included on the Stretch Hummer.
