Review of: Convertible Jeep 4 X 4 Yosemite Park Tour with Hotel Pickup

Highly, highly recommend. Amazing views, experience, and guide! We laughed, enjoyed the natural beauty of the park through the open top of the Jeep, and couldn’t have possibly seen everything we did in just one day without this tour! We hit all the best photo spots (with help and recommendations from our guide), and had a carefree experience so we could just enjoy the park! I don’t have enough great things to say about our trip! Thanks Ram and Crossroads!!

We had a fantastic experience as a family doing a winter trip to Yosemite. We were overwhelmed with the guides knowledge and being patient with us while taking longer time at places. Overall a must do experience.

We were picked up in a cosy air conditioned van. We were a group of 9 which was a great size.

We stopped off at Fern Spring and filled water bottles with the spring water using water bottles given to us by our guide. The water was amazing and nice and cold.

We then started the tour and visited various sites, Yosemite is truly stunning and your jaw will be sore from the amount of times it hits the flaw. We stopped for lunch which was provided and it was really nice. We had lunch in the grounds of the lodge hotel in Yosemite, which itself is a beautiful place.

We then finished the rest of the tour of more beautiful places finishing up at the base of El Capitan to watch the crazy people climbing up 🙂

The guide was great and took lots of photos of us and was really pleased to do so, he was also very knowledgeable of the park and all the different areas.

A perfect way to see it all!

Our tour guide Richard was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My fiancé and I had an amazing experience, we saw the highlights of Yosemite which was awe inspiring. The lunch was really good my veggie sandwich was delicious. We even got to drink out of a natural spring on the valley floor. I highly recommend taking this tour.

This was such a great opportunity! It was a small enough group that we got to interact and ask questions. The timing worked well overall. It might have been nice to spend a little more time at some of the stops, but there is SO MUCH to see that you really have to keep moving to pack much of it in.

Definitely go up to Glacier Point if possible. Well worth the drive. It’s a little windey for those that might get car sick, but worth it if you can stick it out.

Lunch was great. Good quality and must have been from a local deli. Not just cheap sandwiches.

Overall this was a great chance to see a little of everything and then make decisions about what to spend more time doing on the next visit.

Thanks for the great tour!

My parents and I are visiting Yosemite as one stop in our west coast trip. We met our guide Daniel at this tour. He is patient, well spoken, and unimaginably knowledgeable about Yosemite – its history, its geology, its animals and plants, and even the forest fires it suffered. We love the great rock walls and the giant sequoias. We like a lot the hike in Mariposa grove, the majestic show at Glacier Point and Tunnel View, and the secret view points that Daniel show is. Great experience!

We met Brian in our hotel lobby and we pleased to find we were the only two people on the tour. Only way to see all of Yosemite in a day. Hit all the popular spots and must see places. He gave us lots of history and interesting facts about the park. Highly recommend.

We only had two days to visit Yosemite, and we knew there was no way we could see everything. The tour was the perfect option to see the highlights of the park! The communication with the company was great and all the instructions very clear. Hotel pickup with a huge bonus.

The best part was our tour guide, Daniel. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about Yosemite and the surrounding areas. Couldn’t have asked for more, really.

Good and not so good

Review of: Full Day Small Group Yosemite & Glacier Point Tour – with Hotel Pickup !

Our driver and guide was knowledgeable and informative. Unfortunately, Yosemite Falls was dry the day of our tour and Glacier Point was closed due to snow. Not the tours fault but for a full day tour we saw El Capitain a lot, bridal veil falls and the mariposa grove. We spent over an hour in a parking lot waiting on one of our fellow passengers who did not return after the 20 minute allotted time at the grove. After fellow passengers began to complain the driver finally sent a ranger to find the lost man and the rest of us were dropped off at an old hotel to look around…although there wasn’t much to see there.

Again not all of this was the tour’s fault but due to circumstances I couldn’t rate it higher.

Very Nice But Not Exactly What We Expected

Review of: Full Day Small Group Yosemite & Glacier Point Tour – with Hotel Pickup !

The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He really had a passion for the park and made it fun. The vehicle was a large SUV. It was very nice and very clean, but……not ideal for seeing the sights from the drive, as we had expected. We had 6 passengers plus the driver, so two adults had to sit in the 3rd row and the second row was 3 across. It was fine, but not terrific for touring all day (we were picked up at 8a and dropped back off at 530pm) in the vehicle. Once in the park, we noticed there were other shuttle busses there with lots of tall windows that would have been better suited to take in the views during the drive. I even saw one with a retractable roof, which would have been terrific, as I was traveling with someone who had limited mobility issues.

Booking through Trip Advisor, we were offered our choice of sandwiches for a sack lunch. Although they were very good sandwiches, one of the couples was offered reservations to eat at hotel in the park instead of the sack lunch. Apparently they booked directly and their package, for the same cost, offered a sit down, order from a menu lunch. It seemed a bit odd that we drove them to their lunch reservation and then the other 4 of us were eating a sack lunch outside the restaurant until they finished. ????

Lastly, the description offered the option for a hike. Again, this wasn’t something my companion would have been able to take advantage of anyway, but it was not offered to any of the passengers. So if you’re looking for a tour with a hike, I don’t think this one will be well suited.

Overall it was a very nice day, but it felt more like riding around with a very knowledgeable local person than an actual tour with an agenda and tour vehicle.

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point with Ahwahnee Lunch

We loved the convenience of being picked up very close to our VRBO house and the van arrived right on time. We visited the major sites of Yosemite and really appreciated having someone else do the driving! Mick, our guide and driver, was very knowledgeable and provided us with many interesting facts about the park. We strongly suggest the drivers/guides use a microphone as it was almost impossible to hear what he was saying in the back of the van. The company would be well-advised to invest in such equipment. We enjoyed the lunch at Ahwahnee very much. We were delivered back to the door of our rental home later in the afternoon. A great service! This tour helped us decide what to do on subsequent days and which sites we wanted to see again.

One somewhat unusual criticism, I suspect, is that one of the other people on the tour was obviously sick with a very bad cold. Being confined to the van with a coughing, sneezing seat mate was more than unsettling. Might there be a way to advise participants that they should not participate if they’re ill? I suppose there would have to be a modified refund policy in a case like that.

We were given an excellent tour of Yosemite and all its highlights by our guide Brian. He arrived early allowing us to get into the park before any crowds. He was able to answer our questions and tell us fascinating stories about the park and it’s flora and fauna. Lunch was delicious and so enjoyable sitting looking at the park vistas.

A very memorable day!

Costly but worth it for us.

We had a rental car but didn’t want to face the challenges of touring through Yosemite, so we booked a one full day tour with Crossroads Tours and Limo to get acquainted with the area. We were picked up in Oakhurst at our hotel at 6:45 a.m. as anticipated. Had perfect weather. There were 6 other travelers we picked up in the area, so our group was small. Our tour guide was Richard, who was very accommodating. He was knowledgeable about the park and was experienced at driving on the mountain roads. We got to see all the highlights and had our pre-selected sandwiches with water, chips, and a banana for lunch. Everything went really well. We would have liked more time at our last stop, the Mariposa Grove of Giant trees, but our hotel was close enough to go back there ourselves. We are retired and happy we were able to afford this special tour.

Brian was AWESOME… such a great day!

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point with Ahwahnee Lunch

You get an EARLY start when you meet your tour guide (Brian came to pick us up at our Lodge). He takes you straight to a natural spring, if you wanna fill up your water bottles with the ‘good stuff’. 😉

We had ridden our Harley’s THROUGH the park the day before, so he took into consideration what we had stopped to see already. You tell him what you are interested in and he’ll make it happen, if at all possible.

Brian and his wife have lived here for YEARS and their children were raised among the Yosemite treasures. We were introduced to where hikers ‘practice’ their moves and we even got to see the last hang glider take off from Glacier Point!

Lunch was delicious and those views were just as impressive (the building).

Thank you, Brian, for a great day. We appreciate YOU!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Mick! Very knowledgeable of the park. We were picked up at our hotel Oakhurst promptly before 7 am. Mick was very personable and accommodating. We had 4 others with us on the tour and enjoyed getting to know each other during the day. We were somewhat ahead of the big tour busses at each stop which was a plus and cut down on the crowd. Half Done, Glacier Point, Inspiration Point, El Capitan, Bridal Veil Falls, Yosemite Falls, and Fern Spring were awesome. We were taken to a shady location for our delicious sandwich lunch which was included. The last stop was Mariposa Grove and the majestic Sequoias!

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point Tour from Los Angeles by Amtrak

Hi folks! If you want to do this trip, I suggest you just get a tour for the Yosemite part of the trip, and then make sure that there is not a lot of time designated to picking up and dropping off other people who are joining your group who are not REALLY close by. At least, 4 fours of the day was designated to picking up and dropping off other people.

You get to see half dome and El Capitan and the falls, and a few of the smaller giant sequoias, and our driver Mick, was really nice, knowledgeable, loved what he does, and that was the good part.

The best way to do it, is to drive to Oakhurst, and stay there for the night, then spend a full day seeing and hiking Yosemite, and sleep in Oakhurst again, and drive back to LA the next day.

Otherwise you need to take a bus from LA to Bakersfield, a train from Bakersfield to Fresno, and sleep in Fresno, AND THEN YOU ARE STILL AT LEAST 80 MINUTES DRIVE TO YOSEMITE!!!

This was the second time I have been to Yosemite. It is worth the effort to visit!

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point Tour from San Francisco by Amtrak

This was a great way to see Yosemite. Train transfer from San Fransisco was straightforward but note that you must get the Amtrak shuttle bus (included in your ticket) to the train station in Oakland before connecting with the train to Fresno. The hotel provides a shuttle service in Fresno and the accommodation was fine but be aware that the day of the Yosemite tour starts early. Tour was excellent with the guide well informed but the distances covered take a long time due to the size of Yosemite. Interesting packed lunch with good sized sandwich but there is an option to get lunch at the hotel restaurant in Yosemite. Lots to see & pack into a day but worth it. Note that you need to leave the park in good time to make the train connection for the return journey.

Perfect for seeing the hi lights of Yosemite. Best of all someone else gets to do the driving on the twisting, no guard rail, roads! The best bonus is that they know where to go, where to park and what’s worth seeing. You just need to kick back and exit the van when it stops. Worth the money.

It all begins and ends with a great tour guide and we had the best. Richard was awesome! Great information, patient giving us time to see things, and gave us great dining recommendations. Got to see all of the main highlights of Yosemite. Lunch was included and was very good (sandwich, chips, cookie, fruit). This is a great way to see Yosemite and not just wander around for hours looking for stuff. Richard showed us little known areas of the park in addition to the main attractions. We booked our tour through Trip Advisor (Viator).

Good Way To Get A Taste Of Yosemite

Review of: Full Day Small Group Yosemite & Glacier Point Tour – with Hotel Pickup !

We selected this tour as we only had a few days in Yosemite and felt this would be a good over-view tour. We were picked up at our hotel – Tenaya Lodge – a few minutes after the appointed pick-up time. The vehicle was a comfortable eight-person van with easy in and out. There were eight of us on the tour.

We entered the park at the South entrance and headed straight to Glacier Point to take best advantage of a good sun angle. The ride up was interesting and our tour guide/driver was filled with interesting knowledge about the area. We had 30 minutes or so at Glacier Point which was actually enough time to get a feel for the views.

Then on to see Yosemite Falls which included a short, pleasant walk on level ground. We headed up to the highest vantage point but were driven back by the mist which threatened to soak us all. But the views were excellent.

We selected the option of have lunch at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel with the alternate option being a picnic lunch. The Majestic is correctly named and we had a very enjoyable meal in a stunningly lovely dining room. NOTE: I’d strongly recommend selecting the Majestic Hotel lunch option!

On the way back to the South entrance, we stopped at the grove of Mariposa giant sequoias. I wished we’d had more time there as we weren’t able to get to the “giant” which is the largest tree. But we saw some beautiful examples of sequoias none the less.

We got what we expected and were happy with the day.

Yosemite Valley and Glacier Point Day Tour

We only had one day to spend in Yosemite so decided to pay for a tour so we could enjoy the highlights without worrying about getting ourselves around… or lost. What a great decision! Our driver/guide, Daniel, was excellent- friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He shared with us so many insights we wouldn’t have otherwise been aware of. He even took the time to point out things to my children to make their experience even more educational. We had a great picnic at Yosemite Falls and thoroughly enjoyed our day and experience. Both the tour and the experience altogether were amazing! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see as the highlights of Yosemite on limited time, without the headache and hassle of navigating the park on their own. In fact, I have a friend planning to visit Yosemite in the fall and will be recommending Crossroads Tours to them for sure!

Review of: Yosemite Valley Tour with Transport from Oakhurst

We were first time visitors, had only one day and the risk of needing chains so we opted for a private tour out of Oakhurst. There was no need for chains but it was a fantastic day which we will never forget. Our guide was very knowledgable without being over the top and he planned the day in such a way that we got to see everything that could be seen in the Valley that day – all this without ever feeling rushed. Lunch was excellent. A great option for those with limited time.

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point Tour from Los Angeles by Amtrak

First when they say from Los Angeles by train that’s sort of accurate. You board an Amtrak bus in Los Angeles to Bakersfield then catch a train to Fresno so just be aware when you book that’s the actual trip detail. It’s about 5 hours from L.A. to Fresno this way. We were met by the Crossroads Tours rep. in the morning at our hotel then drove about an hour up the mountain in her SUV to meet our Yosemite guide. We hooked up with Mick and continued the ride up the mountain in his SUV. Luckily, nobody else was on the tour that day so we had a private tour which was as good as it gets. Mick is an interesting character who is a pleasure to talk with and share life and travel stories. He is an expert on Yosemite and and will make sure you see all the sights that must be experienced. Great guy! You will walk away from the tour knowing the interesting facts about the history of the valley and see the interesting spots. Make sure you cell phone is well charged as you’ll be taking a lot of pictures. The owner of Crossroads called a couple times after booking to ensure we received the e-tickets and were set for the trip which was nice and she was able to answer all questions right away. Be prepared to spend another hotel night in Fresno as leaving for L.A. when tour ends will get you into Union Station around 11:15pm so for us too late to catch connecting train down to Orange County. The train ride home was without any issues and the L.A. to Irvine train had some entertainment when the cars were full of drunks and one pulled the emergency brake resulting in a chase around the cars by the staff to catch the person who was then taken away by police. Great craft beer available in the train cafe along with cocktails if you wish. We’d recommend this tour with Crossroads to anyone….not the cheapest out there but you will go home happy to did it…..Insist on having Mick as your guide and all will be well….

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point Day Tour

An excellent full day tour with pick up and drop off in Fresno. An early start but well worth the effort to avoid the crowds early in the day. Over 7 hours in total within Yosemite allowed sufficient time to see all the major sights you read about in the guide books. A comfortable vehicle and a knowledgeable and engaged host driver. Highly recommended tour.

Review of: Private Tour: Yosemite by Helicopter or Small Plane and SUV from San Francisco

I went with my parents on a day trip to Yosemite. Traveling by plane is the way to do this trip! The flight takes ~40 minutes each way and the rest of your day is spent driving in and around the park. Ram was our driver and guide and we were joined by a naturalist from the Yosemite Conservancy who knew everything about the plants and wildlife at the park.

It is a day trip, so you don’t have much time to just get lost in your experience. We saw Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Halfdome, Bridalvale Falls and more. So, you see alot, but you don’t have time to take a nap under a tree. 🙂

I was nervous about the coordination of the trip as it involved a number of pieces — a car to pick my parents up at my house and drive us to the airport; the flight to and from the airport in San Carlos; the airport pickup and the tour itself; and, of course, lunch and snacks. So, there were a lot of parts but everything worked perfectly. There wasn’t a single glitch in the day. We just had fun.

I would recommend this trip if you have friends or family coming in with limited time. Doing a day trip to Yosemite is a great surprise that most people wouldn’t expect. And you get back in time for dinner

Sequoia and Yosemite – beautiful experience

Mikesee060

As part of our first ever trip to the United States we originally selected two tours we wanted to take of the National Parks (Sequoia and Yosemite). The company replied suggesting that we take the Majestic Mountain Loop tour (three National Parks which included the two we wanted plus the Kings Canyon – one tour per day out of Fresno). We decided to take their suggestion.

We were picked up about 7:15am, with another couple aboard, and off we went on our first day tour, being Sequoia. Beautiful area and our driver Richard had a very full knowledge of all aspects of the National Park, which he shared with us. The whole park was absolutely impressive and the sequoias were mind-blowing. Magnificent. The day for each tour was 11-12 hours duration which makes a long day.

By what seemed a chance remark to one of the rangers, Richard found that because of road maintenance, the Kings Canyon would not be accessible the next day. Seemingly the Crossroads Company was unaware of this problem as we had not been told in advance that we could not go to Kings Canyon.

We elected to have a day in Fresno, rather than take the Yosemite trip on the second day (which was offered as an alternative).

The third day of our Majestic Mountain Loop tour was to the Yosemite Valley. Once again there was another couple on board, and both of our trips were in a comfortable SUV. Yosemite was even more mind-blowing and we had a great day and Richard was again our driver and guide. We stopped at many places and saw so many highlights. Excellent.

By chance, the final section of our return to Fresno had Ramji, the company owner, driving us to our hotel. He is a very pleasant person and we discussed the cancelled Kings Canyon trip and the refund that we would receive. No problem. There was a problem though. It took six weeks and a number of emails from us until we fnally received our refund.

Apart from the rather slow turnaround for a refund, then I would thoroughly recommend Crossroads and their tours.

An amazing visit

mlfieber

What a wonderful day in Yosemite! Tour guide/driver Rick was a genial font of information about every aspect of the park. He skillfully piloted the SUV thru Yosemite’s winding roads which allowed us to drink in the scenery. Don’t be deterred by the early start. It’s a crowd beating technique and allowed relaxed photo stops. Lunch is generous, companionship superb. Highly recommended.

April 2018 Tour

Dennis I

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point Tour from Los Angeles by Train

The main thing to keep in mind with this tour is a lot depends on the time of year you go. My wife and I went on this tour in April 2018 and as a result the road to Glacier Point was closed and the Mariposa Grove was closed for maintenance.

We got our Amtrak reservation and hotel information about two weeks before the trip. Being as there is no rail route between LA and Bakersfield that leg is on an Amtrak bus. The trip was scheduled so that we only had about 15 or so minutes until the train left which spared a lengthy layover in the train station. The return train was delayed due to track congestion but that’s not a problem in that Amtrak buses will wait for you to arrive if your connecting train was late.

We were put up in the Radisson downtown which was a very nice hotel. For dinner, there is a great brewery/Mediterranean restaurant, PK HoP, which is located about two blocks south of the hotel on Van Ness.

We were instructed to arrive at 7:00 AM in the lobby but we were greeted by our driver who arrived 15 minutes early. Our driver drove us to Oakhurst where we met our guide. Due to a cancellation we managed to have the tour all to ourselves. Our guide was extremely informative and made multiple stops for great photo opportunities. We got sprayed by Bridalveil Fall, which was at almost maximum capacity due to flooding the weekend before, got a great view of El Capitan, and walked to the base of Yosemite Falls, while meeting a herd of deer on the way up. Our lunch was provided, which included an insulated tote bag that we got to take home with us. Our guide then took us to a meadow near El Capitan and took pictures of my wife and I with Half Dome perfectly situated. After that, we were given the option of touring the Wawona Hotel (which we declined since we were there for the natural part of the park) and we were taken back to the Fresno train station.

This trip was definitely the best way to see Yosemite from the LA area if you’re not overly enthusiastic about camping or waiting six months to get a lodge reservation. It’s well worth the money.

Review of: Yosemite and Glacier Point Day Tour

I only had one day free to spend in the park and this tour catered perfectly to my needs. I was surprised when I got here that it was snowing (!!!) but the weather was apparently very warm last week so spring is truly unpredictable. We got to see both the snow-covered mountains and the green and lush surrounds as the snow had melted by the afternoon. This park is spectacular and every photo I took was a gem. Gladys was a great guide and had the warm air con on in the car for us whenever we returned from our short walks. Thanks for a great day!

Review of: Yosemite Valley Tour with Transport from Oakhurst
Brian was the perfect guide. Lots of local knowledge, good conversation, and he was versatile. It was a challenging day — lots of snow and cloud, but he still made it a day to remember. He was kind and considerate to us who wanted to walk, and another person with us who was less mobile. Visit to a quirky coffee grinder and roaster on the way back was a great bonus!

Fantastic day in Yosemite!

tambra72

This tour was fantastic and I highly recommend it. I was in Fresno for work and had an extra day so this fit the bill perfectly.

Bonnie was great and picked me up from my hotel at 7:00am to drive me to Oakhurst to meet up with my guide for the day. Because of the early hour, she provided water and a granola bar which was nice.

I was the only person signed up for the “Yosemite and Glacier Point Day Tour” but Richard took great care of me. He chauffeured me around all the crazy hairpin turns in a comfortable suburban while I relaxed and enjoyed the views. He provided so much interesting information on the history of the park as well as the plants and animals found there. We hit all the places like Glacier Point, Half Dome, Bridal Veil Falls, etc. We had an awesome picnic lunch at Yosemite Falls which included a gigantic sandwich, chips, cookie, banana, and water. At El Capitan, Richard provided binoculars and pointed out the rock climbers traversing its face. We stopped at Fern Spring where he provided a plastic bottle that I filled with the coldest, fresh water to drink. He also made regular stops at the “good” restrooms.

Overall, it was an incredible day with the leaves starting to turn and I got some great pictures.

Fantastic Yosemite tour

We only had 2 nights in Yosemite as part of our honeymoon so chose to do the crossroads tour in order to see as much as possible in one day. We were picked up from our hotel by the fabulous James at 7:20 and were 2 of 7 people on the tour. James was wonderful!! He had so many stories about his time at Yosemite and kept us all entertained throughout the day. We managed to see glacier point, the Yosemite valley, Yosemite falls, bridal veil falls and El Capitan along with other stops along the way. I would certainly recommend this tour. There was hardly any walking and I took some amazing photos!! Thanks James for a great day!

Life changing trip

Judi P

We flew to San Francisco for 5 days, and as 2 were “travel days” we only had 3 days to experience as much as possible of SF, the Bay Area and Yosemite. I did a ton of research on TripAdvisor and YouTube to maximize and customize our trip to Yosemite. Crossroads Tours is a unique provider of custom tours and had excellent reviews. I can absolutely recommend going this route, with this company if you are short on time and want a life changing, mind blowing experience in Yosemite, a national treasure and UNESCO World Heritage site. Ramji, the director at Crossroads, a very affable and customer focused individual, designed several options for us to maximize our time in the Park, seeing the very best sights while staying within our budget. We chose the private Hummer Tour and were picked up in SF by minivan. We transferred to the Hummer in Mariposa with Mick, our experienced guide, who was easygoing, engaging and passionate about Yosemite and taught us so much about the history, geography, geology of the region from the Gold Rush days to present day. Absolutely fascinating! If you try to do this yourself, it will be overwhelming, the Park is huge and most people miss most of the great stuff because they’re exhausted from driving or simply don’t know where to go or what to do. We chose to hike up the 4 Mile Trail from the Valley floor to Glacier Point. It definitely packs the most bang for your buck, and if you can physically handle the challenge – 4.6 miles and up to 7200 ft elevation – you will be forever a changed person! My sons and I were so awestruck at the natural wonder and beauty of the surroundings – it was expensive but so worth it. The expense is soon forgotten, but the memories will last a lifetime. We were completely exhausted after the hike and then had a 4 hour drive back to SF – but the van was comfortable and we could stretch our legs and even lie down and sleep, and our driver, Hector took excellent care of us and got us home in record time. Again – if you want to experience Yosemite and only have a day or so – please connect with the folks at Crossroads Tours. An unforgettable experience!

Spectacular

Yosemite itself is a wonder. You can do it by yourself, try and drive, find the best view, park, ect, but you’ll be stressed and miss the jaw dropping vistas. This small group tour, led by Mary, was like having an old friend show you around the park, dropping you off close, hovering in the parking lot, doing what she can to make it stress free where you can enjoy the magical sights Yosemite valley. Bridal Veil Falls, el captain, half dome and the Magistic are fantastic and this the most stressless way to see it. It was a wonderful tour.

Yosemite Valley – Majestic

Had a fun time touring Yosemite with Crossroad Tours. Richard was exceptional and very knowledgeable, comfortable van, and comprehensive tour. There is also a senior rate which is appreciated. Historic landmark the Majestic Hotel, although we did not dine in the restaurant, lunch was included by Crossroads. We could not have asked for a better day, waterfalls were majestic.

We thought Mary did an excellent job. We were delighted at the small, intimate nature of the tour…in an SUV, not a van or bus. Mary went literally out of her way, to make sure we didn’t miss anything, including great picture stops. This was not easy, considering all of the detours because of flooding and construction in the park.

Personal, Friend and Comprehensive Tour

travelernottourist, Mission Viejo, California

Booked this through Viator and everything ran smoothly. We’re called with times the day prior. We were picked up at our hotel lobby in a very comfortable Ford Exhibition. Picked up one other couple so basically this ended up being a very private tour. We hit all the highlights of the valley including stopping at a few spots I had not viewed in the past. Since Glacier Bay and Mariposa Grove closed we spent entire day in valley. For example, a stop at Fern spring where we filled proved plastic bottles of fresh, drinkable spring water to drink throughout day and a stop to see some hikers in a hidden meadow near El Capitan. Mick, our guide, told personal stories and gave us informative facts. We had an included lunch at the Ahwahnee (sorry Delaware North, to me it will always be the Ahwahnee, not the Majestic!). We got to sit at the same table that Queen Elizabeth sat at during her visit, a prime table with the best view. We were able to select anything from menu and non-alcoholic beverage with certain dollar limits. No time for dessert so suggest they allow one hour vs. 45 minutes in future. We had the right number of bathroom breaks and Mick was very flexible when requests were made. This is not a n inexpensive tour and priced quite a bit more than the one offered by our hotel. I am not sure if better or not, but we were happy with our tour and having Mick do all the driving meant we got to see it all with no worries about parking, timing, etc. got back to our Fish Camp hotel by 3:30, tired and full of excellent photos and great overview of valley.

Awesome Yosemite

We did a lot in one day in Yosemite our special thank to Kathy our tour guide she was awesome and knows everything about the park. Great driver and great tour guide. We were very happy. Jeanne, Jose and Ricky

The WAY to see the mighty Yosemite

CCMH, Green Valley, Arizona

This was a wonderful, small group tour from a local company in Oakhurst (Also called ‘Tour De Yosemite’ on the web). Cathy gave us a great tour of all the famous spots in Yosemite, and provided lots of color throughout with several great stories and thorough knowledge of the area. Saw all the classics as their website advertised, and never felt rushed at any time…in fact, we were wondering if we were going to make it home for bedtime! Cathy was like the energizer bunny of tour operators, and you could tell she really enjoyed what she was doing…not just someone going through a script for the 1000th time. Although we probably could have seen most of these attractions on our own, this tour really stood out for us as we have done several guided tours in the past and have felt lukewarm about them at the end…but not this one! Yosemite – like most great National Parks in the US – is always very crowded, and because they allow you the freedom to drive on your own, expect to spend half of your trip finding a place to park your car once you have found a place you want to stop and enjoy.

Incredible!

Crossroads tour to Yosemite Valley

BurghDoc, Pittsburgh, PA

We booked a tour through Amtrak Vacations for a guided half-day trip through Yosemite Valley from our hotel in El Portal. The guide picked us up, along with another couple, in an 8-seat SUV. He took us to Tunnel View, Bridal Falls, and various overlooks of Yosemite Falls, Half-Dome, Merced River, and El Capitan. We did not get to Glacier Point, Mariposa Grove, nor the Majestic Hotel (even though that site was on the itinerary). We were given an hour lunch stop at the Valley Lodge cafeteria, which we had to buy on our own. The guide was well-informed, especially about the geology of the park. He gave us opportunities for walking and picture-taking, and a telescopic view of El Capitan climbers..

On the downside, however, we had to exit and enter the SUV many times, which became somewhat uncomfortable for us. Also, our son suffered a minor fall in a parking lot, and the guide did not even carry a first aid kit. I noted that he did not have a fire extinguisher or water for emergencies.

Overall, I would not recommend this tour. If you only have a day or two, then an all-day tour would be better. Yosemite in July is like an oven…the tour might be much more comfortable in Spring or Fall.

Dear Clients,

Sorry to hear you were not happy with the tour. Your tour is booked by Amtrak Vacations and they only pay for Yosemite Valley Tour. We have made a note of your concerns and you are right it is better to go in Spring or Fall to avoid traffic in the parks.

Please call us at 559 658 8687 and let us know your name and relevant information so that next time you travel to Yosemite we will make it right for you.

Thanks
Ramji

Exceptional!

If you want to get a really good view of the falls, this is the tour for you. Our guide, Richard, was very knowledgeable and passionate about Yosemite. He picked us up at our hotel and provided lots of historic stories as we drove up the mountain (about 25 minutes). We visited during spring break and found it slightly crowded (I can’t imagine what it is like during summer or high tourist season). If we traveled on our own by car, there is no way we would have seen as much, learned as much, or even know where to go. This tour is fantastic if you want to see Yosemite (while saving yourself the aggravation of driving and figuring out maps). If you have little ones that are antsy and just want to hit the trails (or have short attention spans), this may not be for you. The tour can be customized (we were interested in seeing the Falls), you do break for lunch, and Richard is great company! We highly recommend it.

The perfect way to experience Yosemite

gmeredith, Long Beach, California

We were picked up at our hotel in a Hummer. The Hummer is the perfect vehicle to go through the park when there is ice or snow. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and passionate about Yosemite.

Our tour included: Glacier Point, Tunnel View, Yosemite Waterfall,Yosemite Rock Formations, Ahwahnee Hotel and many other sites. Your tours can be tailored to include other activities.

Yosemite is magical in the winter. I can’t wait to go back in the fall.

Amazing experience!! Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and is really great person.
Enjoyed this trip very much!!

Donni G

Awesome way to see the park! Our guide was terrific. He provided historical information on the points of interest as well as some fascinating stories. I truly enjoyed my first visit to Yosemite with this tour. It was nice to sit and enjoy the passing scenery with someone else driving.

Jonathan R

It was perfect! The park is spectacular. The weather was perfect. The bus was half empty and the guide was informative and entertaining stops. Answered most questions and shared personal photos and other information.

Vickey L

Our driver Cathy was knowledgeable and pointed out even the smallest points throughout our tour. Beautiful views and stops. Answered most questions and shared personal photos and other information.

This was an extraordinary day! I highly recommend this tour especially if this is your first visit to Yosemite and/or only have a day to see Yosemite. The guide was knowledgeable, pleasant and funny. It was like riding with a family member! I could not have asked for a better tour experience.

Tara O

Fantastic tour guide. Very informative and interesting. When we couldn’t go up to Glacier Point straight away because of the weather, he changed around the tour to keep us all happy.
Really enjoyed the day and would massively recommend this tour! :

We toured with Crossroad Tours Company. The driver, Richard drove to fast going and coming to Glacier Point at Yosemite National Park. He did not obey the speed limited that was posted. We only had 35 minutes at the Glacier Point attraction 15 minutes was to stand in a long line for the lavatory and then it was a 5 – 10 minute hike to the peak of Glacier point. The Crossroad Tour van was old and not enough room for the number of passengers. This tour cost 129.00. It was not worth it. Use the tour company at Yosemite National Park, it only 40.00. Very disappointed with this company.

This tour was amazing!

Mary J D

Enjoyed the day trip and tour. This was a perfect tour for first time visitors. Our guide James was pleasant and safely saw us to Glacier point and the valley. We enjoyed the entire day!

This is a MUST take tour! Our tour guide, richard, was very knowledgeable about yosimite and it and #39;s history, amongst many other fun facts about the area! We basically had an all day, private tour of yosimite! It was personalized and comfortable! We were blown away! 5 stars!

Leslie O

Driver arrived on time and was good tour driver, very conscious of safety and parking. Since most of the time is spent in the van, traveling, he could do better in explaining history of the Park, its geologic formations, climate and weather influences, flora and fauna, and maybe more about the context of the Park in CA and US history. Our party of 5 included a middle aged father, mother who spoke little English, fluent in Arabic and a son who spoke English for them. They were from Lebanon.

Lisa F

My elderly mother and I just took this tour yesterday and had an EXCELLENT time! Mickey, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took his time at all the stops to explain as well as patient as my mother walks much slower due to her age. We had a very memorable experience!

Mary B G

Richard was great! He was very knowledgeable. I had never been to Yosemite and I felt like he showed us all the highlights and more. I would have liked to spend less time at the covered bridge and more time at the Bridalvail falls or Tunnelview. Aside from that we were very pleased with the tour and especially with Richard. Our group was only 7 people which was wonderful. We had about 1.5 hours at lunch to do some exploring on our own which was also a very nice use of the time. Much thanks!

Milan

Guests will enter at the Southgate entrance of the park. You will stop at Chinquapin and Glacier Point..this line can be omitted as we did not enter through the south gate and had to go all the way to Mariposa and enter from there. We were told that the gate was closed……If that were the case, we should have been informed earlier so that we could have stayed in Mariposa instead of Oakhurst and do less travelling. Must say this tour was not upto Viator standard. All my earlier experiences with Viator were much better.

Lawrence G

Not a 9 hour tour, more like 6.5 hours including doubling back to put on chains on the tires. Children in back of van could not hear the guide over the tire and chain noise, need a microphone and speaker. Enjoyed the guide when stopped, she was very knowledgeable .

This is the perfect tour especially if you have never been to Yosemite and have limited time. We were picked up at our hotel lobby at time arranged through a call the day prior. The guide picked us up in a very comfortable Ford Expedition. There were only 2 couples on our tour so very private and personalized. Because Glacier Point is closed this time of year we spent entire day in the valley. We stopped at all the major sights and had enough time to enjoy the falls, views and take photos. Loved the early stop at Fern Spring where Mick our guide provided us plastic water bottles to fill and drink from throughout the day. There is a bit of walking but not too bad if in fairly good shape. Good hiking, or water proof walking shoes, are needed this time of year. Dress in layers as temps can fluctuate. Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful, funny with personal stories and flexible to our wishes. The lunch at the Majestic hotel dining room always be the Ahwahnee to me was excellent. It included selecting one item from salad, sandwiches and entrees plus one non-alcoholic beverage. We got to sit at the Queen’s table in the end alcove with best view. Named so as Queen Elizabeth dined at this specific table when she visited. We were picked up at 7am as in hotel near south entrance. We got back at 3:30 quite tired but happy that we saw and learned do much. This tour is a bit pricey but for us so worth it as we didn’t have to worry about driving, parking or how to get to each site. We learned more having a guide and enjoyed company of the guide and meeting the other couple. Yosemite is such a magnificent cathedral of nature that not having to worry about the mundane allowed us to enjoy more fully. At the end of the tour we were given an insulated tote bag-a nice memento.
