Camp without the hassle

If you crave camping and don’t want to haul the tents, this is the perfect tour for you. We provide rustic cabins with comfortable beds, so you don’t have to sleep in a sleeping bag on the ground. Plus, you’ll be disconnected from your electronic gadgets for a change and recharge your soul batteries with simple living, like folks used to experience just a few generations ago with no TVs or phones. You’ll be surrounded by peace and quiet, refreshing breezes, and distant Sierra vistas. Take a walk, read a book, or relax and go to bed when nature’s lights go off.

$299/adult, $279/senior over 60, $199/child under 12. Includes personal guide, box dinner, picnic lunch, water, and park fees.

Day 1 — pickup and camping

We pick you up in either Fresno (5–6 PM) or Oakhurst (6–7 PM). You could opt to fly to Fresno International Airport, take Amtrak from SF or LA, or drive to Fresno. We drive you through the Sierra foothills to our camping cabin site, which has a total of four cabins — plenty of room if you’re traveling with an extended family group or friends. Experience beautiful views of the Sierras under the stars. Each rustic cabin has two twin beds and one twin loft bed. We pick up our boxed fried or baked chicken dinner (included) on the way. The campsite is equipped with a composting toilet, and each cabin has a small water tank stored outside. At this time showers are not available, but if necessary a camping shower bag may be available.

Day 2 — Glacier Point and Yosemite Valley

We depart early in the morning, so pack up and take all your belongings unless you’re signed up for another night. We head toward Yosemite — through Bass Lake / Fish Camp and the South Gate (the Mountain View Drive), or up Highway 49 through Mariposa / Midpines on the River View Drive along the Merced River to the Arch Rock Entrance.

We stop at Glacier Point for 35–45 minutes — a commanding view of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Nevada Fall, and the Yosemite High Country, accessible only by smaller vehicles from approximately late May through October or November. Big buses not allowed! With binoculars you may spot hikers on top of Half Dome. Be sure to get a selfie and make a Y for Yosemite.

When we reach Yosemite Valley, we go through a long rock tunnel and emerge at Tunnel View — a dramatic reveal of Clouds Rest, El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall, where Ansel Adams captured his famous “Clearing Winter Storm.” We continue to El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall, then on past Cathedral Rocks, Yosemite Falls, Yosemite Chapel, and Sentinel Bridge, with its breathtaking view of Half Dome reflected in the Merced River. From Yosemite Lodge you can walk to the base of Yosemite Falls, visit the souvenir shop, and grab a coffee. We make a final stop in front of El Capitan — “The Captain,” rising over 3,000 feet — and at Valley View before heading back. After the tour, we drive you back to your original starting location of Fresno or Oakhurst.

More about the optional Four Mile Trail hike

The Four Mile Trail is actually about five miles from the trailhead at Glacier Point to our meet-up place at Yosemite Valley Lodge. The elevation at Glacier Point is 7,200 ft and Yosemite Valley is at 4,000 ft. This is a strenuous, challenging hike regardless of direction. You must be prepared with appropriate clothing, shoes, walking stick or trekking poles, water, and whatever else you may require. In 2016 President Obama and his family hiked this spectacular trail and only Crossroads Tours offers this option to you.

Crossroads Tours does not offer a personal guide for this hike, and by accepting to walk the Four Mile Trail or any other trails you are releasing Crossroads Tours from any liability. The hike takes about 2–3 hours. We allow you four hours maximum to reach Yosemite Valley Lodge; beyond four hours we may not be able to stand by, and if we must wait the cost is $95 per hour calculated after four hours.

Our guides

Our guides are all local and going to Yosemite is their passion. Each one brings expertise as well as personal experiences, stories, and secret spots to share with you. They look forward to meeting you and will be delighted to share this very special part of the world.

Disclaimer

Sometimes due to scheduling issues, the hiking portion may be changed to go in the uphill direction. The duration of the tour can vary due to weather, traffic, and how much fun we are having.

Questions we hear a lot

FAQ.

What are the cabins like?
Rustic and comfortable — no need to haul tents or sleep on the ground. The site has four cabins (plenty of room for an extended family or group of friends), each with two twin beds and one twin loft bed. There's a composting toilet on site and a small water tank outside each cabin. Showers aren't available, though a camping shower bag may be.
What meals are included?
Day 1 includes a boxed fried or baked chicken dinner. Day 2 includes breakfast and a picnic lunch with the Yosemite tour. All park fees are also included.
How do I get to the pickup?
We pick you up in Fresno (5–6 PM) or Oakhurst (6–7 PM) on Day 1. You could fly into Fresno International Airport, take Amtrak from SF or LA, or drive to Fresno.
How big is the group?
We specialize in small groups, usually up to 8–12 guests, in SUVs and vans that reach places big buses can't. Occasionally in peak season we may use a mini-bus that still reaches Glacier Point.
Is the Four Mile Trail hike an option?
Yes. After taking in the view from Glacier Point you can hike down the strenuous Four Mile Trail (~3,200 ft elevation change) to meet us at the Valley floor. By accepting to hike you release Crossroads Tours from liability; if we must wait beyond a 4-hour cutoff, the cost is $95 per hour.
I'm not a U.S. resident — is there an extra park fee?
Yes. The national park charges non-U.S. residents a $100-per-person entry fee that is not included in any tour price. Please bring it in cash — your guide collects it at the start of the tour. Guests without the fee cannot enter the park, and the tour might be canceled without refund.
